What do you love most about your horse? He is incredibly big and I am incredibly small, so I love that he looks after me so well!
Funny habits, how does your horse make you smile? He is pretty grumpy by nature which always makes me laugh, as he is so happy under saddle and doing his job. I am very very lucky to have such a great personality in Dan.
Horse’s Name: Heatherton Park Surprise
Height: 13.3 3/4
Colour: Chestnut
Breed: ARP
Discipline: Dressage
What do you love most about your horse? Surprise is our family treasure, having joined with my sister over 14 years ago. She is the most talented dressage pony we have ever owned and I have ever sat on. We have tried to retire her so many times but she absolutely loves her sport, and is the first at the gate to be ridden every night. I am so lucky to have so much fun with such a fantastic pony, who really owes us nothing more!
Funny habits, how does your horse make you smile? She has the most incredible extended trot, so when she's feeling happy she will just extended trot everywhere (including down the centreline). It's very cute!
What do you love most about horses? How much they give for us. They are their own 'person', and they really don't need to jump coloured sticks and dance in rings for us. But they do, and for that I will be forever grateful and so lucky to have them.
Do you have an idol in the Equine World? I have been having lessons with Megan Jones since I was 7 years old, so she's definitely my biggest inspiration and I am so lucky to have learnt so much from her!
Who is your biggest supporter? My sister Eliza is incredible, and she is always driving me around the country to have fun with my ponies!
Describe your favourite horse memory? I love riding with my neighbours in the holidays, and swimming in the dam with our horses. We love competing and spend many weeks on the road a year, but my favourite memories are always at home in the field with our ponies and friends.
What are your ambitions or dreams with your current horses? I'm looking forward to getting Dan to Junior 2* classes in the coming years, and jumping around some 1.20m + tracks. With Surprise, she has so many accolades already that I really just enjoy every competition I get to have with her and never put any pressure on set goals.
Where do you see yourself riding in 5 years? I'd love to follow my sisters footsteps and head to Europe to showjump and event. It is a big goal of mine and I am quite determined to make it work!
Why do you want to be part of the Barastoc Junior Squad? The Barastoc Junior Squad looks incredibly encouraging of young riders, and is a company we are strongly passionate about. It would be such an honour, and great privilege, to be given the opportunity to represent Barastoc, and in a way that is supportive and encouraging of other junior riders!
How do you think being a member of the Barastoc Junior Squad will help your riding? Being supported by Barastoc allows my horses to continue feeling their best, meaning we are supported to reach our dreams. Having a healthy and happy horse, especially in eventing, is so important, and I already know they preform fantastically on these feeds, allowing me to better my own riding!
Which Barastoc Ambassador would you most like to meet? Brooke Langbrooker
Have you fed Barastoc to your horses in the past? If so, what products did you use? Yes, we feed it to all of our horses along with KER! We use Barastoc Calm performer, command and competitor.
