Your age – Fav food’ and or what food you do not like
This was a tricky question because I love food, especially sushi and hamburgers. The only foods I don’t really like are avocado and tomatoes, everything else I will give a go.
What makes you really happy – What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not riding?
I have just started Year 9 of High School, so I am currently trying to develop a schedule where everything fits in. I live and breathe show jumping, and when I am not with my horses I love spending time with my friends, listening to podcasts and reading books, which have helped with my own personal development, and I enjoy my weekly Cadet training where I currently hold the rank of Lance Corporal. The thing I look forward to the most though is weekend competitions, I love traveling throughout NSW, ACT and VIC with my family and team of horses – every weekend is an adventure in a new place, it isn’t a hobby but a lifestyle!
What colour is your horse- height – age – level
BP High Society (Spider) is 10yrs old and 15.2 hh. He is a spectacular Arabian/Warmblood chestnut who holds his tail high as he prances around. Spider and I are currently competing 1m to 1.20m, and he loves his gallops in the paddocks where he gets to really stretch his legs out.
Foxhall Miranda (Miranda) is a beautiful 14hh Thoroughbred/Riding Pony, who I have had for a few years. She is 14 years old and her favourite height to compete at would be 80-90cm. Miranda also really loves Barrel Racing and jump-offs, anything fast!
How long have you been riding?
I have been riding since I was five years of age, and have competed from six. My Mum thought it would be a good idea to try horse riding one school holidays and after one lesson my family and I fell in love with the animal and the sport.
What you love most about your horse?
The more time you spend with your horses the better the bond. I love it when that bond strengthens, the trust develops and we both know what each other are thinking – that’s when you can try new things and take risks. My horses are my best friends, they listen to everything and look after me in the ring.
If you had to pick just one, what is your favourite discipline?
That’s easy – show jumping!
What do you hope to do when you grow up?
When I finish school I hope to travel overseas and work in the equestrian field, before returning to Australia to study Veterinary Science. My BIG dream though would be to compete internationally, and spend my days living what I love.
Tell us what your goals are for the future?
My main goal is to continue to develop and grow as a rider and show jumper. Every day is an opportunity to learn something and strive to be better than I was yesterday.
Who is your biggest supporter?
I am fortunate that my family are my biggest supporters. They have been there for me from the very beginning and encourage me to work hard, have fun and chase my dreams.
Do you have an idol in the Equine world
Edwina Tops Alexander is definitely my equestrian idol. I love the passion and determination she has for show jumping, and like her parents, mine also don’t come from an equestrian background. This hasn’t stopped her riding all over the world and representing Australia, something that I would love to achieve one day.
If you could meet one famous person in the world, who would it be?
It would be Edwina again, I would love to talk with her and find our all of her tips and techniques.
Barastoc feeds used:
Barastoc feeds are a staple in our stables, and we like to use New Calm Performer, Complete Performer and Groom to keep our horses super shiny and performing at their peak. We also use steamed barley for our pet pig, she loves it.
The 2021 season has just started and I have been really happy with Miranda and Spider so far. I will be travelling the circuit throughout NSW, ACT and VIC.
