My partner Will Foulkes and I run Abey Performance Horses, which is based on our 840-acre family farm in Pentland Hills, about 1 hr west of Myrniong. I am also co -Founder and director of charity Beyond Racing and mum to two children Penny and Arthur, whilst Will is a national XC course designer. If we weren’t already busy enough, we also run a commercial beef herd as well as the horse business. Plus, all of us ride!
I have trained TB horses to FEI level eventing and show jumping. I have had a few very good thoroughbreds who have given me a lot of success, and allowed me to chase my dreams! Recently I have had a lot of success with TB gelding “Sail on by”, having rehabbed him successfully back from punctured tendon and still going strongly at 18!!

Products
Our feed regime is very simple. That’s the best advice! Keep it simple. BARASTOC feeds are a complete feed. We work with BARASTOC nutritionists and monitor our horses closely.
We feed Breed N Grow as a staple. It has simplified our life. We use it for spellers, brood mares and horses in work. We supplement with Groom for our competition horses, and the horses in heavy work that require more also receive Command and rolled barley. We work with the RSPCA and have rehabilitated thoroughbreds in very light condition primarily on Breed N Grow with outstanding results.
My inspiration and who I look up to…
My mum. A great horsewoman who encouraged my sister and I, and many children she taught to be open minded with our riding and learning. We had the opportunity to experience the huge range that is possible with horses.
I am also constantly inspired by our horses, in particular those that overcome adversity, they make me want to be a better person. With our training and lots of off the track TBs we need to be adaptable with our training. It is definitely not a “one size fits” model. We draw on a lot of different things with each horse that we work with.
